Advert Evaluation

Advert Evaluation

1) What was the task you were given and who was your target audience? As the audience wasn't typical of the product how did you manage to sell it? What was the name of your brand?

Our task was to create a sweet which targeted middle aged men. We sold it as we created a product which will give an energy boost to men working in offices. This makes the product more tailored to men who are tired at work rather than children. The name of our brand was City Bears as our product mostly appeals to people working in the city.

2) Who did you work with and how did you divide the research, planning, filming and responsibilities?

I worked with Josh Marriage and Nathan Laville-Farrant. We split the roles equally. I was part cameraman, actor and editor. We all had an equal part.

3) How did you plan your sequence?

We came u with ideas and wrote each scene down in chronological order. This helped us structure our advert better. We sometimes had multiple ideas for a scene and had to narrow it down to the best possible scene.

4) What research and planning did you undertake?

We researched other products to gain ideas. We also had a shortlist of names and designs for our product. We made multiple designs for our logo which we narrowed down to one. Our product name was also debated but we eventually came to a final name which we thought was the best.

5) What was you initial feedback? What did others say about your production? How successful was your sequence?

Our initial feedback was that our music fitted the advert and our editing was good. Our constructive criticism is that our advert needs more special effects.

6) Identify what went well and with hindsight what you do to improve/do differently.

We think that the music went very well along with the advert and matched the tone and ideas we were going for. We also think our advert is memorable. If we had to do something differently we would include a few more effects to further promote our product.

7) What have you learnt from completing this task (groups skills, communication, compromise, using your initiative, creative input, production skills, editing etc)
We have learnt that if everyone has an equal creative input then the final product turns out much better and more original. We have also learnt that communication is hugely beneficial to receive a more completed product.

8) Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your future productions?

It will help us when we have to create another video as we can use the skills we gained from making this advert to improve our next product.
