Daily Mail Front Cover Evaluation

Evaluation

Upload your newspaper alongside a Daily Mail cover you used as your main influence.

What was the task you were assigned?

To create a mock Daily Mail cover based on a real Daily Mail cover.

What programme did you use to complete your task?

I used Microsoft Publisher.

What tools did you use to create your task?

I used the crop tool to cut off part of my image to make it fit the page better and allow space for the headline and text.

What were the biggest obstacles to completing your task?

One of the biggest obstacles to completing the task was getting the right fonts to make it as accurate as possible. It took a while to find what fonts the Daily Mail used and how to get them. Another obstacle to completing my task was to get everything to the right size so it is as accurate as possible to the actual Daily Mail cover.

Describe your production and why you chose the various text headings and images?

My main headline was created to create fear in the reader. This is what the Daily Mail's headlines do to scare the reader.

What was your initial feedback? What did others say about your production?

My initial feedback was that there was not enough space used and that I was wasting space. I then corrected this by making the font larger so my page seemed more filled.

Identify what went well and with hindsight what would you do differently?

I think that my page was ver accurate compared to the real thing. I fell my headline was a good replica and my layout worked. However next time I would find a higher quality image as I found that the resolution was lower than I wanted and when my page got printed out my image appeared pixelated.
